Novish Tuna pizza

What do you need?

Pizza base:

  • 300 g (wheat) flour
  • 5 sachet of yeast (3.5 g)
  • 5 teaspoon of sugar
  • 200 ml tepid water
  • 5 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil

 

Tomato sauce:

  • 1/2 onion
  • 5 garlic clove
  • 100 g tomato puree
  • 3 tomatoes
  • dash of oregano
  • pepper
  • salt
  • olive oil

What you put on the pizza:

  • chopped red/white onion
  • Novish Tuna
  • grated cheese

How to prepare it?

  • Mix the (wheat) flour together with the yeast, oregano and salt, after this is well mixed add the water. Knead by hand into a smooth dough.

  • It will still stick a little at first but keep on kneading the dough. Knead the dough for at least 5 minutes and form a ball.

  • Take a large bowl that fits this ball and grease it lightly with olive oil. Also grease the dough ball with a thin layer of olive oil. Cover the bowl with cling film and leave it on the counter for about an hour. The dough ball will roughly double in size.

  • Meanwhile, you can make the tomato sauce. Chop the onion and garlic very finely and cut the tomatoes into small pieces. Heat a teaspoon of olive oil in a pan and slowly fry the onion and garlic. Then add the tomato puree and fry on a low heat for a few minutes, do not let it boil!

  • Then add the pieces of tomato and leave to simmer gently for 10-12 minutes. Once the tomato is completely soft, you can turn off the heat.

  • You can choose to leave the sauce as it is or puree it all into a smooth sauce.

  • Add pepper, salt and/or oregano to taste, then leave the sauce to cool down on the counter.

  • Now preheat the oven to 225 degrees.

  • Dust the counter with some (wheat) flour and remove the dough ball from the bowl and place it on the counter. First knock the air out of the dough ball by hitting it a few times.

  • Cut the dough into 2 equal pieces and make a large round surface with the rolling pin. Roll the sides back in a bit to get the edge of your pizza. Place the pizza base on your baking tray with baking paper.
